Multi Agency Search

20/12/2020 Galway Civil Defence were tasked earlier today as there was reports of a missing person in the river Corrib. Our members were nearby and able to immediately respond and get our DJI Matrice 210 equipped with a 30 x zoom camera as well as a thermal imaging camera alongside EI-ICD (Rescue 115), RNLI Lifeboat from Galway Station, Galway Fire Service, Galway Gardaí, Costelloe Bay Coast Guard and HSE National Ambulance Service.

We deployed our Drone team in support of the search getting our craft airborne within minutes of the call, This enabled a “Hasty Search” to be conducted along the lower river and along the docks. The flights continued until we became aware that EI-ICD was ariving on location. We were aware of this through the use of Marine Radios, Telephone contact with MRCC Valentia as well as the ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) receiver on our craft.

We always work very closely with the Irish Coastguard to ensure safe operation of our Drone in the vicinity of the helicopter and our Drone remains on the ground until the airspace is clear.
